Tech Workshops
Our Tech Workshops pair tech-savvy high school volunteers with residents who are eager to learn about using smartphones, tablets, computers, and more. These sessions cover practical skills like video calls, social media navigation, online safety, and even exploring interests like virtual museum tours or digital photography.
Technology can be empowering for seniors, providing a vital link to family, friends, and the wider world. Many residents may feel left out in the fast-paced digital age, and these workshops give them the confidence to navigate technology with ease. Volunteers, in turn, gain patience and communication skills as they tailor their teaching to each resident’s comfort level and abilities.
Storytelling Sessions
Storytelling Sessions are cherished events where students sit down with residents to listen to and document their life stories. These conversations are often guided by prompts, focusing on memorable moments, life lessons, and reflections. The stories are then compiled into personal memoirs that residents and their families can keep.
Storytelling allows seniors to share and preserve their legacies, offering them a sense of accomplishment and pride. For students, listening to these stories fosters empathy and a deeper understanding of different life experiences, reinforcing the importance of memory and connection across generations. These sessions are often transformative for both residents and volunteers alike.
Cultural Days
During Cultural Days, volunteers and residents come together to explore and celebrate different cultures. Each event spotlights a particular culture through music, dance, storytelling, traditional clothing, and foods. Volunteers often take the lead by sharing their own heritage, and residents have the chance to reminisce about cultural experiences from their past.
Cultural Days bring vibrancy and diversity into the retirement home, reminding residents of travel, family traditions, and cherished memories. These events foster respect for cultural differences and give students a platform to share their own backgrounds, while residents are encouraged to reflect on how these traditions shape their identities.
Seasonal Arts and Crafts
These workshops allow residents to express their creativity through seasonally themed crafts like holiday cards, wreaths, and spring flower arrangements. Guided by volunteers, each resident creates something unique that they can keep or gift to family members. Crafts vary seasonally to keep things fresh and exciting, with a wide range of materials and styles.
Art is both therapeutic and a form of self-expression. Seasonal arts and crafts help residents celebrate holidays, connect with others, and create something meaningful. For students, these workshops are a way to learn patience, engage in hands-on work, and bring joy to residents, encouraging connection through creativity.

In addition to our signature programs, we also host a variety of special events to add fun and relaxation to the residents’ routine. These include Gardening Days, Spa Days, Bingo and Game Nights, Movie Nights, and more. Each of these activities provides unique opportunities for socializing, relaxation, and joy, enriching the lives of both residents and volunteers.
